How much does a car tracker cost in the UK?
The short answer: in November 2026, leading UK retailers advertise an S7 tracker from about £189 fitted, an S5 tracker from about £389 fitted, and an Autowatch Ghost immobiliser at £499. Monitoring subscriptions, renewals and extras come on top. Compare the cost over three years, not the headline price.

Advertised fitted prices
We checked the public prices of two of the UK's best-known tracker retailers on 5 November 2026. They are list prices, not quotes. Your price depends on the vehicle, the location and any offer running at the time.
| Product type | Example product | Advertised price | Where advertised |
|---|---|---|---|
| S7 tracker | ScorpionTrack Driver S7 ALS | £189 (fitting included) | Trackershop, TrackerTeam |
| S5 tracker | ScorpionTrack Driver S5 VTS | £389 fully fitted | Trackershop, TrackerTeam |
| S5 tracker | SmarTrack S5 | £399 | TrackerTeam |
| CAN bus immobiliser | Autowatch Ghost | £499 (manufacturer RRP; retailers advertise the same) | Autowatch, Trackershop, TrackerTeam |
| Tracker and immobiliser bundle | ScorpionTrack S5 + Ghost | £799 | Trackershop |
Two things stand out. First, competing retailers advertise near-identical prices for the same product, so a much lower price for "the same thing" deserves a closer look. Second, an S5 tracker plus a Ghost costs roughly £800 fitted. That is a modest sum against the value of a vehicle that thieves target.
What the headline price may not include
- Monitoring subscription. Monitored trackers need an active service plan for the theft-response side to work. Some prices bundle the first year; renewals are charged separately. Ask for the renewal price in writing.
- Extra driver tags for S5 systems, if more than one person drives.
- Transfer fees when you change car, and whether the unit can be moved at all.
- Specialist fitting on some prestige, electric or modified vehicles.
- Certificate and paperwork your insurer needs. It should be included, but check.
How to compare the real cost
Use one simple sum for every quote: fitted price + (annual subscription × years you'll keep the car) + any one-off extras. A tracker that looks £50 cheaper can cost more over three years if its renewal is higher. Put each quote through the same sum before you choose.
Is the cheapest option enough?
Only if it meets your insurer's condition and your real risk. If the insurer asks for S5, an S7 is no saving: it won't satisfy the policy. If your car uses keyless entry and is a popular theft target, a tracker alone helps you recover the car after it has gone, while an immobiliser helps stop it going. Read what insurers mean by approved and our Ghost immobiliser guide before deciding.
Common questions
Is there a tracker with no monthly fee?
Yes, some location-only devices have no subscription, but they are not usually certified S5 or S7 monitored systems. If your insurer has a tracker condition, a no-subscription device is unlikely to meet it.
Why do retailers show the same price?
Many certified trackers have manufacturer-set retail prices. Differences tend to show up in subscriptions, fitting availability and aftercare rather than the headline figure.
Do mobile installers charge more?
The advertised prices above include mobile fitting where stated. Ask whether your postcode is covered at that price.
Will these prices change?
Yes. We recheck them regularly and date every update. The date at the top of the table is when they were last checked.
